Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation between Local Economic Systems
Coordinated by the Region of Tuscany, the Euro Med Sys project proposes modern solutions for an economic cooperation between the Small and Medium Business Concerns (PMI) on the southern and northern shores of the Mediterranean, whose activities are linked to the economic traditions of Alimentation and the Habitat. The Foundation is the first common institution jointly established and financed by all 35 members of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. This far reaching partnership between the European Union and their partners in the southern Mediterranean region was launched at the Barcelona Conference in 1995. The declaration adopted at Barcelona strongly promotes regional cooperation in the economic, social and cultural fields.

IMED The Institute for the Mediterranean
The Institute for the Mediterranean (IMED), founded in 1987, is a non-profit-making corporation.
IMED is an Institute with a common aim that works on three strategic focal points in the European and Mediterranean area: Economic and social development, Citizenship, Culture. Its aims are to: Contribute towards the processing and putting into effect of a policy of a common European and Mediterranean development. Contribute towards the construction of a Mediterranean pole of development inside the European and Mediterranean strategic area. Contribute towards the reinforcement, in the pluralistic and democratic meaning of the word, of civil society in the Mediterranean. Contribute towards the construction of a European and Mediterranean citizenship. Contribute towards forming a Mediterranean identity and culture.
