IDENTITY
Supporting origins

The development of a Mediterranean culture where strong local identities come together in a rich multicultural mosaic without losing their specific distinctions and whose principal characteristics are based on in multiplicity.

To encourage a feeling of belonging to the Mediterranean by presenting it as a participation in an enlarged cultural, social and economic system that permits forms of relations and exchanges between the various countries and various cultures.

To promote the strengthening of a role of the Mediterranean in the accelerated processes of globalization in order to avoid its rejection in the internationalisation policies of other economies and markets.

MULTIPLICITY
A meeting of differences

The development of a multicultural conception that comes from a comparison and meeting between social, cultural and religious differences.

To encourage forms of relations between local identities that are rooted in the territory and a Mediterranean identity that should not only be considered a hybrid culture but also an expression of the rich complexity that is increasingly characterizing contemporary society.

To promote interest among young people to meet and to collaborate, while respecting differences of cultural, social or physical type, and thus develop multiplicity as precious value that should be defended and increased.

EQUITY
Promoting equal opportunities

The development of social models that respect differences and are therefore capable of offering equal opportunities to both male and female sexes, regardless of their cultural and religious roots and differences in “social class”. Sensitivity towards all forms of physical and psychic disability in order to improve the integration of people with a "handicap".

To encourage young people to believe in an "ethical" conception of social and economic development that considers respect towards the individual as an essential value, superior to all forms of difference.

To promote the growth of a culture of integration and an attitude of comparison that can increase the value of "equal opportunities" as important elements for growth and development.

CREATIVITY
Defining new models of development

The development of an economic/cultural model of the Mediterranean where the traditions form part of the cultural heritage, a repertoire of knowledge that can be interpreted and carried out.

To encourage the growth of a Mediterranean economy that identifies and envisions its art, in the widest sense of the word, as an aesthetic production, an essential factor for development and useful for increasing the visibility and competitiveness of Mediterranean products on the global market.

To promote the development of "productive districts" in the Mediterranean, exploiting the local know-how and local talents, while also up-dating them with policies of international co-operation in order to encourage greater integration between countries in the north and south of the Mediterranean.

SUSTAINABILITY
Designing with nature

The development of economic processes that take into account the necessary balance between productive systems and protect the environment and the natural resources.

To encourage perception of the quality of the environment as a resource to be defended and use for economic and cultural development, thus creating an important chance to promote a Mediterranean identity.

To promote initiatives aimed to encourage creative processes and production that are not only sensitive to environmental problems but also encourage processes of integration and "equal opportunities" within a framework of values of effective importance for man and society, in particular those related to principles of social equality and respect for natural resources.
